Virgin Mobile launches the first broadcast mobile TV service in the UK

Over the past 2 years we have been working with a leading UK consultancy company on a new phone.

The challenge, to add mobile broadcast TV and DAB digital radio. 

The DAB receiver used in the phone was designed, developed, and early prototypes made, all with UK companies.

When the pre-production phase began, we continued developing the pcb layout with our clients, but at this stage manufacture of the DAB receiver was passed to HTC in Taiwan.

Now in October 2006, Virgin Mobile has announced the launching it's new mobile TV service, Virgin Mobile TV.

Virgin Mobile TV will start broadcasting with BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and E4,

The service, which is provided by BT’s wholesale mobile broadcast entertainment service, BT Movio, will also broadcast DAB digital radio.

The phone offers a  ‘red-button’ interactivity and features an exclusive seven-day electronic programme guide (EPG).

If you would like to see one of our designs, you could buy the phone on the High-street for under two hundred pounds, and take it apart......
